Module 1 has helped me to realize that I need to more aggressively update my teaching methods and use technology more effectively in my classroom. This will provide my students more opportunities to interact with each other, with me and with their world.
My role as an instructional designer is to not only to be a lecturer by more of a facilitator. I should lead instruction and guide student learning by asking good, relevant questions to lead the students to what I want them to learn. I will also use projects to make skills and topics relevant to the students and the real world.
As an instructional designer in education, module 1 changes my role in the same way that I would like to change my students’ ways of learning and thinking. Some of these ways would include: thinking in terms of 21st century skills, researching and developing concepts, and reflecting and assessing usage of projects and other computer created designs.
Module one has made me think about my role as an instructional designer because I am now face the fact that I have no experience or knowledge of how to design instructions. As a Family and Consumer Sciences teacher I need a lot of help so that I can help my students.
